Asking this because I havent a clue despite having bought and sold several homes over the years but is there any legal reason you have to use an estate agent?,I realise you need a solicitor for the paperwork involved but what exactly does an ES do for their money?

    No legal reason whatsoever.

Technically no legal reason for a solicitor either.

No reason you need an agent to sell/buy or rent .
I have two places coming up for rent and I advertised both on gumtree for FREE .
One tenant moving out tomorrow ,Two prospective tenants viewing Tuesday and Wednesday .I didn't even take a photo as it is still tenanted .

Now I just wish I could advertise on Propertypal without an agent
