  • Another quick update. They have replied stating that statements were sent at the beginning of April hence the reason why collection letters resumed. I am to contact them for duplicates or payment. Time wise that would fit in but still puzzled why they sent an offer letter in May!

Is this one of their tatics in hope of payment? Time for duplicates me thinks.
  • Hi, I have also received a letter from this Lowell company. Advising I owe £1028! I have been on Experian, and it states this debt goes back to April of 2012. And this is the first time I have ever heard of it, I know all of my outgoings. I've never taken a loan out. And the letter says if I don't contact them by 23/07/15, they will have to consider other ways of recovering the money. And could include taking legal action as a CCJ.

I've no idea what to do!?

I owed debts that were taken over by lowell, much bigger than phone bill debt.

I had a default or a couple that were linked to them, what did i do? I never contacted them, ever. One of the debts for 3k dropped off my credit file recently.

Whether your spate of contact with them will encourage them to make a visit i do not know, but usually they just send letters full of stuff that they never act upon.

I think the CCJ is pure threat, especially on such a small sum.

I find it interesting that the debt isn't showing on her credit file.

Start a new thread, otherwise your problem gets mixed up with Blinking Giraffe’s, which is on going

  • Well, at long last it's finally over. Statements arrived after I complained - either they didn't send them or sent them to the linked address.

Had checked all the cra's who didn't hold an account from O2 so, no default. Two of them had the linked address and Lowells had followed this via Experian.

Wrote back to them explaining that the statements proved nothing as all they showed was initials and surname, a load of outgoing calls, one payment with one month at our correct address and two months at the linked address where the default took place.

After two wait, they have written back stating that the debt was bought in good faith and they are ceasing recovery action. I was expecting them to go for a default ccj via the linked address.

So I await for it to be sold on but thanks to this forum for providing the information to be able to defend the accusation.
    1. The prove it letter worked a treat
    2. Keep everything in writing - they were actually polite in their letters
    3. and via here and Legal Beagles I was armed with the knowledge if it went down the ccj route.

My daughter would have blindly paid the debt out of fear.
  • Oh and forgot to say, the envelope had a Northampton address on it rather that the standard Leeds PO Box. Thought it was a court claim!!
