Gym 1 month argument - is it worth the battle or let it go into DMP?

Hi all,
Just wondering whether I should gear up for a battle with a gym or just not bother and pay up.
Long story but basically I worked there, was treated badly, sacked off with no notice so down £200 a month, had a membership so cancelled the membership on the 2nd of the month. They said oh you need to give a month's notice so you will still need to pay for this month and the month after. Ermmm what. Surely 29 days is more than enough time to cancel a direct debit. It's such a con to get you to pay more money right. I'm sure it will be in the small print of my terms and conditions so I guess I can't dispute that.
I cancelled my direct debit so a month is outstanding which they have chased me for. As expected they have now said they are sending my account to a debt agency to collect and are of course adding a £25 admin fee so it will now be £59.
So my options are: ignore the letters/calls from the debt agency and see where it ends up - will they really take me to court over £59? I am not concerned over my credit record as I am in a DMP anyway. Offer to add them to my DMP so they would get what £1 a month?
Or Pay up the £34 now - which as much as I would hate to do at least it gets it sorted.
So much as I am loathe to pay that £34 to them, is it better to just do that and save myself any stress that might come along through a battle with the agency? Or do I just add the debt agency into my DMP?

You could add it too your DMP, but in all honesty, you will get a couple of letters, then it will, most likely, be forgotten about.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
