Although I am not in debt, I am really trying to overhaul my spending and start a savings pot for the future. A little victory has occurred - I get paid tomorrow and I have not gone into my overdraft at all this month :T so I will have no overdraft fees this month. Woohoo!
I have been focusing on not wasting money and this month have cancelled the animals petplan (monthly lump payment for vaccinations and flea/worm treatments), cancelled Netflix, and generally tried hard to not waste anything. I have still managed to go to Paris for a weekend (Eurostar was £50ish return when we booked and I used my hotel loyalty points to stay somewhere nice for free, so only did meals out which weren't too much), have a couple of meals out with Mr Flosswoss, bought a pair of jeans (much needed) and not necessarily feel I am being tight. Today I will be taking the leftover funds that are in my current accounts and transferring to savings. Will be about £10 in total but everything helps, right?!
I have managed to get some savings together and now the brother is working (albeit on a temp seasonal contract) he is giving me £430 towards rent, bills and food. Seeing money growing so fast is motivating and I really hope to keep it up!

Well done! Overdrafts are the work of the devil and a very dangerous trap to get into. Well done on getting out of it!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I'm tempted to get rid of the overdraft now, or at least cut it down, especially as I have savings now. However, a lot of people say to me it's a 'good' thing to have as if you're not using it then it clearly shows you are living within your means. But I'm worried of the temptation of it all!
I'm hoping to get to £3000 in savings, then transfer into my Santander 123 current account so I can generate some interest on it, as opposed to the 0.5% in my savings!0 -
