Wedding Invitation ideas

Hello all,

I have done a quick search on here for advice about wedding stationery.

My fiancee and I are getting married in September this year and are looking for cost effective and manageble ways to buy or make all of the wedding stationery from the Invitation, table layout, place settings and thankyou cards.

Do people just use local printers?

We liked the idea of getting a wedding stamp/s made so that we could get some card and stamp onto it the details of the wedding and use these for invitations. We're not sure about how these work though! Has anyone got any experience?

It would be nice if all the stationery was the same theme!

All ideas welcome!

There's quite a lot of free templates out there (google "wedding invitation template" or similar. Costs for colour printing on decent card from online printers (again, google) are considerably cheaper than paying through the nose from wedding stationery suppliers. Or design your own and use the online printers.

We did all ours via Vistaprint and they were great. I ordered well in advance and was able to split the order to take advantage of all the special offers they sent me. We had invites, maps, pens, mugs and t-shirts and I spent under £50.

There are some companies that manufacture bespoke rubber stamps but they can be very expensive (I used to work in a craft shop) and the total cost in both materials and time (they take ages) can be prohibitive.

@McNeff - I just googled "Studio Cards" but get nothing that seems relevant... do you have a link to them?

I made all of my own wedding stationery (invitations, place cards, thank you cards) using materials I bought from here:
    https://www.thehandcraftedcardcompany.co.uk/
Their facebook page is a great place to get inspiration, as they are always posting designs for invitations made from the stuff they sell on their site.
My invites cost less than £2 each to make. I designed them myself, printed onto the thickest paper I could get away with on my home printer, and then stuck that inside one of their pocketfold invitations.
  • I would start with Pinterest for inspiration if you're crafty (or even if you're not).
After LOADS of time spent trying to do it cheaper, I ended up doing all of ours through Truprint - got 80 invites for £27 (40 Reg. office, 40 more for the reception) as I found a 50% off code.
    Good Luck!

I agree with UnlikelyButTrue and look at Pinterest. I'd also recommend Not on the High Street to look at for inspiration. I found the Save the Dates I wanted on there but they were £2 each. I made them myself for about 50p each and everyone has commented on how good they are.

Some people build a wedding website. There are free sites you can use.

You can add photos of yourselves, all the info about the day, they have guests lists, menu options, gift lists, maps etc.
Then just use the site to send emails and guests RSVP on your website.

Could be a free option if you don't want to spend money on pieces of paper :)
