How to widen boots

I suffer with bunions in both feet. I have a pair of boots that I haven't worn for 12 months due to the tightness of them. Is there anyway I can stretch them using a tool if need be, so the boots' don't "Crush" my feet

I've found Grafters branded steelies go quite wide - I have some similar to http://www.amazon.co.uk/LADIES-SAFETY-BOOTS-MODERN-TRAINER/dp/B001E1LYS6 which are wide fitting, and comfier than many of my non-safety boots!

Alas, the cut of DM's looks wide but is quite shallow, so they may not fit as well as you'd think they do (if that makes sense)
