I'm a twit, how do I tweet?

I've opened a Twitter account purely for the purposes of comping, but as I've never even seen a tweet before (I'm a silver surfer), I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. I don't have any followers, and I'm not too keen to collect them if I don't have to - does it matter? Any advice would be appreciated.

Most competition require you to follow and retweet, to follow you click the "Follow" button, it'll then change to "Following". To Retweet you need to click the button that looks like this :



To tweet a random message you click the button in the top right that says "Tweet" on it. If you want to send the message to someone you type the name of the account first, preceeded with the @ sign ... ie

@MSECompetitions Why can't I win?!

(MSECompetitions is a made up name, not sure if it exists)

In regards to followers, yeah you need to have some ... strictly speaking you don't as most comps claim to be "random", but I doubt a lot of them are as generally the people with a lot of followers wins.

You'll get a page like this, to enter the comp all you need to do is follow and retweet by clicking the 2 buttons I've (rather crudely) highlighted :

It's full of MSE people who, if you follow will follow you back.
To add a follower, if they've posted a link just click on it and click the "Follow" button on the twitter page that opens up, if they havn't posted a link you can just copy their name and then search for it on Twitter and follow.
