Remortgage your flat and get your Mum to pay the mortgage payments from her account into yours....she can even make overpayments until her deposit is spent.

So if it was received into a savings account and then fed across to a main bank account, it wouldn't be so obvious as money from abroad.

Seems discriminatory that an inheritance or gift from abroad is problematic, but from the UK is less of an issue.

It may well be discriminatory, not for me to say.

Its up to the lender to set their criteria then lend their money. If you want their money you have to meet their criteria.

If you are transferring the money about when a lender is asking for proof of deposit they may say they want x months history so you would have to get statements for all accounts the money has been in for those x months. This time period may reveal the money originated abroad. This is when you find out when the lender considers it your savings or an inheritance/gift

ok true, by definition it is not money laundering in terms of proceeds of crime but the suggestion is to exchange two amounts of equal value so that the origin is concealed and effectively cleaning it's history
