I had this last year, nothing showed on X Rays, tapping etc nothing, the pain came and went weeks nothing then weeks of discomfort. It was me grinding my teeth in my sleep. Gum Guard has sorted it out.0

I get cold sores several times a year, I have been getting them for nearly 60 years and apparently they normally get less severe/frequent as time goes by. Mine just don't know the rules. I had a particularly bad outbreak a couple of years ago and afterwards had terrible toothache. I begged my dentist to pull the tooth, if you knew how phobic I am at the thought of losing teeth you would see how extreme this was. The dentist said it was a nerve problem caused by the cold sore and it would get better in time. He assured me nothing was wrong with the tooth. It went on for weeks but gradually reduced and one day it was gone. I always worry when I get a cold sore now as I am half expecting it to happen again.
My cold sores are extreme, up my nose and in my mouth sometimes as well as round my mouth. I have now been prescribed an anti viral tablet, acyclovir I think, so next time I feel a cold sore starting I have to start taking the tablets and they should, hopefully, stop it in its tracks or at least make it heal more quickly.
Sorry, didn't mean to write an epic. Hope the pain goes off soon, it is miserable.Sell £1500

Thanks everyone.
I'm going back today to see if it's the wisdom tooth that might be the problem. There was a very small amount of decay on it but she can't see any other reason for the pain so will see if today's trip sorts it out!0
