  • hi Dennis, thanks for that.

I can certainly make a bit of down payment this evening - will that stop the bailiff from coming tomorrow?

I doubt it, but it will show you are willing to settle your debt with them, the more you can pay ASAP the better it will be for you.

Any letter you send is just basic common sense really, telling them what you can afford to pay and when.

  • Hello

Can anyone help me! I have council tax debt of £300 I am self employed and have had no work for past 3 weeks. And when I do have work it's only for 2 days.

My council tax debt has gone to equita who have put another £300 on top making it up to £600. I have contacted southampton City Council and offered to pay what I can afford and have informed them that I have a disabled son who is terrified when the bailief knock ( Bang! ) the door. I refuse to deal with them but the counci refuses to take the debt back so that I can deal directly with them and pay the 300 I owe.

Equita don't answer there phones but sends letters stating that they have tried to contact me on several occasions which is a lie! And threatens to come and take all our stuff.

Can anyone help? As I do not no what to do anymore!!
