Santander and Valuations

I have just been accepted for a new mortgage. I was a bit surprised to be told they would charge me £330 for a valuation but paid the fee and now have found out that they didn't actually commision a valuation but have merely taken the valuation from the vendors home report (Scotland).

Can they do this and have I any cause to complain? It seems ridiculous to me to be charged that amount for someone to look at a piece of paper.

To answer my own question, having made a complaint today it appears that they made an error and my fee has been refunded.

Something for others to watch out for just in case.
