Sat Nav query

Hi!

I hope you guys can help with advice and bargain price? I am after a sat nav, hopefully with traffic management facility, and ideally with bluetooth link for my phone, that comes with maps of UK (at least), but can be upgraded to have maps of US (particularly Florida). I recently bought a ViaMichelin, which has all of the bells and whistles, but I can't seem to get US maps! Luckily I am able to return it, so am looking for a viable and reasonably priced alternative.

Can anyone help please?

Jackie

  • Im not sure if i can help you with a bargain price but i can give some advice on a good sat nav!
I have a TomTom One Europe (Not the XL) version, it is brilliant, so easy to use, i dont know what i could do without it! It has a bluetooth link and comes with maps of the UK and all of Europe and i just upgraded it tonight at a cost of about £40 from the Tom Tom site so i could get the map of South East US which includes Florida and a couple more states, as i am going to Florida in September. I only had a slight glitch where there wasnt enough room on the memory card i was provided with to store the map on (It already had all of UK and Europe on it so i suspected it wouldnt all fit), luckily i had a 512mb SD flash in my mobile and an adaptor from my photo printer so i managed to store it and check if it worked. I would suggest purchasing a 1gb SD card to store the map on just incase you wanted to download and install any other extras. It did show me how far it would be from one destination to the other but it obviosly it couldnt track where i was because youd need to be there to do that! Some of my family just got back from Florida yesterday and used a sat nav there (unsure of what one) and they said it saved them so much time compaired to when they last went!
When i got this Sat Nav i think it was around £180.00 from QVC, this included all the software and wires to link to the computer, A carry case and the In-Car charger that plugs into the Cigarette Lighter. Info from the TomTom site on the link below.

You can buy it from the Tom Tom site but it is £199.99 i guess it could be found cheaper elsewhere!

    Hope this helps!

I have used just about all the well known satnav systems and imho TomTom is the best by a long way. It has all the maps you are looking for so see what you can find by a www search.

TomTom 910's are going fairly cheap at the moment as most stores are clearing stock - I got mine for £260 & it's great.
Got maps for both USA/Canada & Europe on it.
