Does your employer offer a pension or are they due to as part of the staging process. Generally that's the 1st place to start.

Are you saying that your company is breaking the law by not having an auto-enrolment scheme?

  • Curly,

Keep the costs down. Consider finding a cheap platform offering the barest of functionality that will allow you accumulate effectively, and keep the funds cheap. Take a look at cheap trackers.

I was in a similar situation 18months ago (same age) and chose Cavendish Online to choose who was offering a) the lowest fee's and b) what funds they offered that broadly matched by risk profile and timescales I was after

I went with Aegon in the end applied all online and apart from a small hiccup in transferring a small stakeholder pension over, it all went fine.

The fee from memory is 0.45% which is tiered so that when your pot grows the fee lowers.

I now pay set amount in each month and forget about it, apart from logging in once a month to check balance / growth and adding it to my network spreadsheet.
