Bank statements for remortgage

Our lender has requested our most up to date bank statements, which is fine and I've requested mine from my bank - I mostly do online banking.
Husband, however did bank with NatWest up until last month but had to switch to Barclays due to independence reasons and the type of work that I do which means I can't have any interest in RBS/NatWest. Obviously there's nothing untoward going on here but will they (Nationwide) accept his statement even though it is now a closed account?
