Repairing Shank on Heels

A Few Months ago the shank split on my most favourite pair of heels, and i was of course, rather gumbly about this, as the shank seems to be the most expensive bit of the shoe to fix!
Timpsons told me it would take 3 weeks, and cost about £25.. and since the shoes were only £20 in the selfridges sale, i felt that paying more than this to fix them was a bit excessive, especially since i am a student and poor enough as it is!
does anyone know a way to get my shoes fixed cheaply? Or will i have to just grin and bear the cost?

It's nice to be important but it's important to always be nice.

I'm afraid I can't offer any help but if it was me, I think I'd get them fixed. I don't think it matters if they were £20 or £200, a good pair of shoes is priceless!0
