The ftse 100 passed the 1997 level last month! Some regions have passed the 2007 property peak, and London property prices are well above that now, about 30% over!

Today's FTSE is composed of a completely different mix of companies compared to 1997. Not sure it makes any sense to compare.

Tell that to the OP, who I was responding too. But I would add that if you have a ftse 100 tracker (which I do) then the comparison is of course valid.

Have you got a link please- I can't find the story anywhere.
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Looks like UK property prices could become the new FTSE 100, where it peaked in 1997, and has yet to recover to that peak.

    Was 31st December 1999.

If you factor in reinvested dividend income it surpassed the peak again in 2003 if I recall correctly.

If houses were like LastMinute.Com then the whole country would be in serious financial trouble.

I used to smoke the odd cigar (after more than a few drinks), now I wonder why the hell I ever did that.

I cant smoke now but i also liked the occasional fat cigar. Loved the ashy taste, especially with a whisky, whats not to love. Cant stand cigarettes though
Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
