This question may be one along the lines of how long is a piece of string....

Applied for a mortgage through a broker to Nationwide and it was referred to underwriters. Lots of documents asked for, passed to senior underwriter. Asked for 1 more document and now with head office.

Any ideas if this is a good sign, bad sign or neither!

Brief background - 1 good credit history/ 1 discharged BR (over 6 years). 1 AP marker - company agree wrongly marked but having trouble removing from 1 file. Email from company confirming. 90% mortgage. Good affordability.

Has your case been looked at by the underwriter and then extra document requested or has it just been looked at by an initial assessor to ensure all documents requested have been received?

A long list of documents were asked for on referral. Went to senior underwriter and letter for adverse requested and a few other docs. Now been told it has been signed off and gone to Head Office.

I dont know the answer as I do not use Nationwide much - although I do have a case in a similar situation at the minute, albeit mine is probably about a week or so behind yours.

I suspect it has had initial sign off and is just being double checked, which seems ok but I suppose the outcome could still be accept or decline, if it were cut and dry they would not have this hoop to jump through.

    In exactly same position.

2x self employed applicants, which may automatically trigger refer?

Sent across bank statements, SA302s, marriage certificate etc. and also told 8 days to find out. Already a mortgage customer with them.

    All done through a broker.
