Mortgage Surveyors Not Turning Up

Hi,

This is my first post so any advice is appreciated thanks.

I'm a first time buyer in the process of buying a flat, and today the surveyors (e.surv) didn't turn up to the property at all after being booked in at 9am.

I was notified of this at about 4:30 by the vendor, and I proceeded to ring the surveyors, who were very unapologetic and said the survey was booked in for later this week.

I know that this is wrong, because both the vendor and my mortgage broker had told me it would be on Monday, and as they have never spoken to each other, the information must have come from the surveyor.

If people could advise me whether this is a common problem, and if there is anything I can do now, as it's wasting a lot of time in the process of buying.

Thank you.

Its probably not worth doing anything. You could complain to the surveyors but you will spend an hour or 2 doing it and might get £20-50?

A couple of days isn't going to make a great deal of difference. Sometimes the unavoidable happens. People are off sick, have transport issues etc. As the job will get allocated to a particular individual not much can be done if it's first job on Monday morning either.

    There's been a mistake - it happens.

Really it isn't. You're losing a couple of days which in the scheme of buying a house is the square root of 0. You'll spend more than that bouncing pointless questions between solicitors.

I realise it's irritating but the only "loss" that has really occurred is to the vendor if it meant they had to take time off work and will need to take another day as a result.
