I'm guessing the winner will have to pay a lot fee for the duration of ownership? Worth considering.

When you enter the competition it asks you for your preferred site, I chose "Devon" just 'cause it sounds nice. Just had a call from the guy that runs that particular site saying "... about your enquiry about buying a caravan ..." was very pleasant, wasn't a "spammy" call at all, I think he just got mixed up, feel sorry for him if he's going to get thousands more emails :) I just told him it was a competition entry and I couldn't afford to actually buy a caravan.
So just a note, you might get a call ... but it's not a sales call or anything.

Pitch fees are about £4000-£4500 per year (based on the Dawlish Sands and Golden Sands sites), plus you need to figure in water rates and other bills. Still worth it if you rented it out, thanks for the comp :)

Don't bank on renting it out to cover the annual fees.
I believe some sites have strict rules about this & in any event you are responsible to ensure the gas equipment (& possibly other equipment too) are safe.
In the event of a 'guest' being injured you would almost certainly be legally culpable.

Thanks for useful info, can I quit/cancel the contract and sell it off? Or it is quite hard to sell?

As it says on the website
As a Holiday Home owner with Park Holidays UK, you have complete freedom to use your Holiday Home as you wish. Whilst many people choose to keep all the fun to themselves, for others they want to take advantage of the opportunity to gain an extra income.

Most of our holiday parks have fewer Holiday Caravans to hire out than some of the major holiday park operators. For many of our owners, that is part of what makes our parks a bit different and individual.

The modest size of the Park Holidays UK letting operation provides an opportunity for those that do want to let out their caravan to make a very nice return as there's less competition!

We can take care of all the hassle - from marketing, taking bookings, checking people in, cleaning and doing any repairs. Just agree which weeks you want us to let out and leave the rest to us!

We can explain which weeks are most likely to book easily, and which weeks can offer the best tariff. Many owners find that they can cover most of their running costs should they choose - and still have plenty of time to enjoy plenty of holidays themselves!
