Nationwide problems

FTB so go easy. . .
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience - I am becoming increasingly frustrated.

Mid-February 2015 - I applied to Nationwide for AIP while I was looking for potential properties – (FTB, joint application with wife, no credit/debt issues, large cash deposit, seeking approx. 50% LTV mortgage large cash deposit.)

The initial application was "referred" due to the fact my wife is on maternity leave and they required a letter from her employer to confirm return to work and the salary she would be on upon return. All to be expected - This was obtained within a week and forwarded to Nationwide along with other requisite documents (payslips etc).

Two months on they are still processing the application – we have missed out on several properties due to not being able to provide an AIP to the EA. Perhaps I should have gone through a broker but aside from the maternity leave issue I didn’t expect this to be a complicated case.

Is this a normal period of time to wait for an AIP?

    It seems to be par for the course on direct applications to Nationwide.

    We get our referred DIPs finalised within two days of uploading the required documents.

  • Thanks for the reply, just a little frustrating - there have been a few instances of misplaced documents etc along the way.

    Do you think there is any merit in going through a broker for the AIP > Full application stage?

    Surely, if I do obtain an AIP and they have the required documentation the process should be relatively quick?

    I'm a broker.

    However, it has become apparent over the last few months, Nationwide service is drastically worse on direct business with long wait for appointment, regularly misplaced documents and delays in decisions.

    On our side, we do most things online, upload documents directly to the case ourselves and get our DIPs either instantly or within a few days when referred and from full application to mortgage offer in less than two weeks.
