Sun+ Membership - too late to cancel - Unfair?

Dear All
I was attracted to the Sun+ offer in January of half-price for three months at £9.99 and apparently easy access to the 'great value' Sun Holidays booking system. The bonus was that a £20 Tesco Gift card was offered so what was there to lose?
I joined and looked to book the 'great value' holidays but found that they were not at the low cost as advertised because surcharges were added. Also, you had to apply for three separate periods with no guarantee of which you would get so you couldn't book holiday time in advance. I wasn't happy with the offer so didn't book anything but stayed on with Sun+ in the hope that I might win a competition.
With no luck with the Sun holidays or competitions, I decided to cancel the membership with three days notice. No luck there either as when you try to cancel online, you then have to telephone Sun+ so they can try to persuade you to stay. When you say no, they say they need seven days notice to cancel so my credit card will be billed anyway.
Is seven days notice to cancel an online service an "unfair term and condition"? Martin?
I think it is ridiculous and that is why I've been caught out. I've checked now and their T&C's do state that cancellations must be made with either seven or fourteen days notice. I think this is a draconian condition that if it is to be included, should be forwarded in a reminder letter and/or email at least a week before it is breached.
What does anyone else think?
Can my credit card company decline the transaction at my request because I believe it is an unfair condition?
Interested to hear what the MSE expert community has to say?
Regards.............Mike
