Hi hope you are well. Can anyone recommend a reputable and reasonably priced clinic that they know successfully removes or diminishes acne scars?
I used to have horrible acne all over my back when I was at school, now as an adult there are lots of noticeable scars. My doctors when examining me even notice the scars and ask me how I got them and how long I've had them.
Alternatively there are these products but they're quite pricey per ml and it's debatable whether they work, some reviews say they clear scars others say it worsens their skin:
Skin Doctors Gamma Hydroxy

Aloe Pura Vera

Thanks.

Hi, I can't help sorry, but I am/have been an acne sufferer (I'm diagnosed as chronic now and prescribed adapalene) but I always always found the acne.org site and forums helpful so maybe try there?0

I had chronic acne when I was younger, I was put on tablets by the doctor which cleared them up0

Depends on the type of scaring, white scars are the hardest to get rid of, dermal rollering may help, chemical peels may help too, you can have them tattooed over if they bother you a lot, for red scaring peels are the answer, quite strong ones but worth it, for indented scars you can have them injected with saline which makes the collagen react and eventually they will be the same level as your skin, quite invasive, not as scary as it sounds but I've heard of good results, dermal rollering may also work on light indents, the forum above is a good source of info as suggested and google is your friends, good luck0

Thanks, I'll def check that out. Hope the medication your taking helps.
Thanks! Yeah, it does for the most part. I still get a few spots on my face occasionally. I'm getting married next March and my biggest fear is having acne for my wedding day!
Good luck with seeking a treatment for your back. I was just wondering actually if you could perhaps get a referral through your GP to a dermatologist? May be worth thinking about anyway0 -
Thanks for the info and numerous options wannabeslim, my scars are really dark almost like bruises all over my back. Might need to get I get a Schofield Prison Break tattoo.
Good luck with your wedding plans and the big day cashewnut, I hope everything will go well. Seeing the GP and hopefully then a Dermatologist sounds like the next logical step. I doubt there will be treatment on the NHS but at least I can get some info.0 -
Try Kelo-Cote scar gel it is used after surgeries to reduce visible scars. Might work for you.0

Forget anything you can buy over the counter to self-administer, see a dermatologist. I suggest Stratum Clinic in Oxford (near the station) who will know the full range of conditions, causes, treatments and have all the safe lasers etc on site. Whatever you do, don't just trust the first cream to make promises, or the first laser-wielding practitioner you find. The woo-woo of lasers, pulsed light, etc has grown huge, and for a few hundred quid you can import dangerous Chinese models with absolutely no training or medical training.
It's easy to set up a very shiny clinic with absolutely no idea what you're doing and even cross-contaminate and harm people - but I know Stratum Clinic is managed by experienced and well-respected medical dermatologists so you'd be in safer hands. Wherever you go find out if you're seeing actual medical doctors, and not 'Dr' Gillian McKeith-style internet university doctors.0 -
Acne Vulgaris attacks your face when your face pores are filled with dirt. Drink more water and follow some home remedies like oatmeal, toothpaste etc...and cover your face from pollution. For more info you can search with "healthclaps" in google.0
