I have a good credit rating but with a history of missed payments and have some credit card debt.

I've been declined in the past for various things.

I just got a loan from Zopa to consolidate card debt. To my surprise, I was accepted.

From what I have read, zopa are strict - can my credit rating be that bad if zopa accepted me?

Its not to do with your credit rating but your credit history, they only accept you if they like what they see.
