Please help with nasty smell

My poor elderly mother had a little accident [didn't get to loo in time] and her new slippers got soaked !! I put them through a long cycle in the machine but they still smell awful .Any ideas anyone on how to freshen them up or should I just bin them ?

    Bin Them!

my husband had a similar problem with a very expensive pair of running shoes. I used to wash them in the machine and they came out smelling rank...never had the trouble with any of his others. Took them back to the shop, who contacted manufacturer and apparently it was something to do with the rubber and was a common complaint, they gave us a refund. As I say they were very expensive, I don't think you'd get a refund on a pair of slippers, but it might be worth a try

Soak them in a vinegar solution and then wash using biological soap powder.
