Broker's annoyed me - want to get Mortgage Appointment Quickly

That second paragraph - confirmed offer had been accepted and research done by monday... I do not think that 1 day is particularly slow. You cant expect them to drop everything because your offer has been accepted. Would you want them to drop your case when the next enquiry comes in?
Having said that, a day to go with the cheapest without actually checking affordability is pretty bad.
The rest just sounds like it goes downhill.
But as has been said, you get what you pay for. Fee free and they will need to pile it high to keep the income levels they need.
I think it would be quicker to go via a broker but one that knows what they are doing, trying to get an appointment in branch is not quick at the minute.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Sack them off, I'm an FTB and went from application to offer in 2 weeks with Post Office, no hassle at all. If you have a straight forward application why use a broker to perform what is just a simple administration task. (I understand they do more than that, but I don't believe a broker is necessary unless you have a more complex situation i.e. bad credit etc.)
You may not have the best offer by simply going high street. Brokers have that access. Fee free or paid, they will have better mortgages than you can get online or on the high street."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Thanks everyone for your comments/suggestions.
ACG - I was probably being a bit flippant with bemoaning the day to do research, but yes the main issue was more that he appeared to have just taken the offer top of the best buy table without much thought to the chance of acceptance!
I managed to get an appointment with a NatWest mortgage adviser in branch this afternoon and have completed an application today which passed credit score and affordability and is now off on its way to the underwriters. Yes, I'm probably paying a bit more than I could have gotten elsewhere but I have more confidence in the chance of acceptance. We're 79% LTV so not as spoilt for choice as we could be if we were a bit lower down the scale.
Now where's that "awaiting mortgage decision" thread...?0 -
I'll also mention that both my partner and I bank with NatWest and actually work for them as well - so I did manage to call in a favour to get an appointment at short notice (it's all about who you know..;) )
Sadly the days of discount mortgages for staff are long gone, but at least we're making progress again.
Sort of wish we just did this in the first place now!0 -
Thats pretty good going getting an appointment in branch so quickly.
Natwest are taking about 5 working days to look over paperwork at the minute, so with a bit of luck this time next week you should have your offer assuming all requested documents have been sent in.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
