Hi everyone,
Busy day today & seem to have achieved a reasonable amount. Some dreadful stories of medical mishap/neglect on here today. My Mum has an unusual degenerative illness which was also missed. She kept being fobbed off with a diagnosis of arthritis, but when it got worse, luckily a locum GP who was on duty when she got an emergency appointment realised what it was & sent her for tests that same afternoon. To be fair, I think Mum's condition is something most GPs would maybe see around 1 case in a lifetime, but it did make me wonder how much it would have worsened without her getting onto a serious drug/steroid regime.
Anyway....the list:
*Saved a bit of energy by not using de-humidyfier & towel radiator today. Opened windows instead.
*Did last of the week's laundry overnight on cheap tariff. All has line dried outside for free.
*Made dough for bread rolls (just in the oven now....yum!) & pizza base.
*Use-it-up still going strong: 1/4 of a bag of Quorn chunks coated in smoky bbq spices & will be used to top tonight's pizza: ancient portion of leek & potato soup defrosted for mr f's packed lunch tomorrow.
*Fed pot of scraps & toaster crumbs to the birds, who were ridiculously excited by this largesse.
*Cat was made to eat last night's dinner before his breakfast was served.
*Checked online banking to make sure that money needed to pay for boiler has transferred correctly. It had. Fitting & parting with big wodge of cash day is tomorrow.
*Stewed a bag of our homegrown greengages to stretch our fruit bowl supplies out a bit longer......you can tell I've been ferreting about in the freezer can't you?
*Did new up to date freezer inventory.
*Did a few surveys.
*Wrote letter of complaint enclosing sharp piece of something or other found in packet of crisps yesterday.
*Updated grocery budget. It's been healthier at this stage of the month, but I think we will be ok as have lots of food in the freezer.
*Did all my outstanding admin & filing.
*Started next week's meal plans.
*Write shopping list (not done yet as have to finish meal plans first)
*Entered a competition.
*Finished packing away my winter clothes & ironed a few more spring/summery things which I can add to my wardrobe now.
*Have nobbled mr f to spend an hour with me on planning tonight. I want to get his work diary, my household filofax & the calendar all synchronised so I can plan for things better. Being very organised ALWAYS saves us money.
*Managed a tiny bit of free leisure, as did sit down to flick through a magazine & managed to update my blog. Will also knit later.
OK, must crack on. The bread rolls are ready to come out of the oven - smelling lovely - & I want to get this pizza constructed before Hungry Horace comes home :-)
Have a nice evening, Oh, & FVD, good luck with the house. It's getting exciting now.

Evening everyone
I wasn't put on rota for day and had already sorted childcare so a completly free day today. Was really looking forward to getting lots of jobs done, however something has kicked of my dietbeties and I've been in bed all day. Readings are of the chart and when it does that it's really hard to do anything including taking the medication. Just got to a point now where I've just got enough energy to do that. Really dehydrated as well and been constantly drinking pints and pints of water, also had a couple of ice lollys - not the best thing to have re sugars but have took the edge of the thirst (unlike the 20 pints of water) but on the positive I've managed to stay out of hospital and hopping to get them back down now! I really do hate having dietbeties and it doesn't help that it's a invisible disease that no one understands.
Did manage to get town first things, pick up a over door shoe hanger to help organise cupboard which is just completly trashed at the moment!
Also George sale on so managed to pick up a couple of little bargins there. Nearly when crazy and got lots but reviewed what I picked up and only got the stuff I really liked rather than because it's a good price. Saved a fair bit doing that. It was quite funny when I walked in asda as I actually groaned because there was a sale on, didn't want to spend money haha but in the long run its pans out.
Well I'm going to put somthing on for tea, not hungry but not had anything proper and I need to eat to take another good dose of insulin really. I think a brew is in need and this evening I will start some jobs, stripped out my wardrobes out to sort clothes so really need to do that and iron everything :-( but when that's done I think I'll be a little more motivated to do other things.
Beautiful day, what a shame I missed it
Will check in again later xx
Oh re the doctors I went to them serval times saying I thought I had dietbeties and that I had checked my sugars on my sisters reader and they were high. He said he doubted it but did send for a blood test. It came back negative. Then whilst in the hospital, seeing the consultant, he sent me for a specific blood test for dietbetices (after finding out my sister had it) I was immediately put in hospital as they were that high. Turned out the test for the doctor did was the completly wrong type to pick it up!! I was soo poorly has it hadn't been picked upDebt Remaing £315 :jBreath out the past, Breath in the futureBig Dreams Start Small0 -
So sorry to hear that, Bob, your poor mum.
I do believe that on the whole the NHS do a fantastic job with ever dwindling resources, two teams of paramedics spent 2 hours working on my dad for instance, but other aspects of care are not so good.
Yes I agree with you still. I have had excellent care in NHS hospitals my whole life. Apart from the Gran example, which ok, is pretty major, I cant complain." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Dawn - Sorry, meant to say thanks for the tip on the seedlings.
Foxgloves - I hope the condition your Mum has is not hereditary. It must be hard for GPs. One of my regulars is a locum, and she works 13 hour days often. She was telling me that with old people, the 10 minute appointment slot is a joke. It takes them 3 minutes just to get in the door and sit down in some cases. With complex medical cases, it can throw the whole day off. Shes a lovely caring woman, but one of the ones mentioned in the news who will retire within the next 5 years, because she has just had enough.
JoJo - So sorry to hear about your awful day. It must be horrible to drink all of that and still not feel satisfied. It sounds like luck rather than judgement that picked up your condition in the first place.
Well my day was very good. It was extreemly busy in the shop, we have hit a mile stone today of taking over £200 for the first time since the reopening. Some very busy periods, like first thing, but other than that just steady which is what you need with just 1 person. I have now managed to cover the CC I 'borrowed' to pay yesterday, plus put money aside for some stocks I need & am still £20 ahead. If tommorow is good too, I think we will break through the highest takings so far record, in the 6 week period Im looking at. But knowing I dont 'need' it to be busy feels very good.
Utterly pooped, but the chip shop is calling me. I must resist. But I did get £5 in tips today so could probably afford something dreadfully bad for me if the husband chips in his schrapnel toobut there is food in the house, conflict.....
Night all.

Well, I spoke to someone at the lawyers and at the moment I don't have enough information about visits to the GP but they keep asking if we want to put in a claim which we don't so I don't think it's going to help the other woman.
I didn't emerge with bank balance unscathed at the market as I stupidly assumed it was as hot as yesterday and wore a sleeveless dress and ended up having to buy a cardigan but it was only a fiver and it's an M&S second. Everything else there was a bit blingtastic but I'd definitely go again as they had a great stall selling waxed cotton fabric and the odd bit of nice furniture that didn't look like it had escaped from Graceland.
Fish and chips (or saveloy in my case) was lovely but my mum didn't enjoy it and of course told me. It's so hard to describe how judgemental/critical etc she is but for instance, I told her about the possible new house and she said 'ooh, is it lighter than yours with bigger windows?' (subtext, 'your house is dark'.) She can never say 'you look nice', it will be 'that looks much better' (ie 'better than what you normally wear because you usually look a mess'.) It's so bloody wearing!

Evening All, thanks for starting us off Ziggy, hope you're feeling well?
Good news on the house FV, not so good about all the misdiagnosis stories. It definitely happens more than it should, but I agree the NHS overall does a good job. I had a conversation with my (7 year old) DD today about the doctors - she asked if we had to pay when you go - this opened up an opportunity to tell her about the NHS and how lucky we are compared to other countries. Still, improvements can be made
Foxgloves - I think I've missed the outcome on your boiler, I know you were having trouble with it, did you need to fully replace it?
Bob - hope your takings keep going up
JoJo - hope you feel better soon, shame you missed out on a nice day, but at least you were able to rest when you needed it
My MSE list for today:
All meals from stores
No spend day (2nd in a row)
No heating on (still getting very cold at night, fluffy dressing on!)
Flylady room rescue on kitchen, living room and dining room (dd right behind me in each room doing her best to clutter them back up - she's programmed to see spaces and fill them!)
Phoned broadband provider to advise I was leaving, they offered me their current new customer rate - perfect this is currently the cheapest deal anyway. So that should be a saving of £170 (£10 per month plus £50 cash back) to pay off the debts. Just wish I had got round to it 2 months ago when I was first out of contract.
Washing on quick cycle at 30 degrees
Organised packed lunch for work tomorrow
Organised clothes ready for morning
This week has flown by, really need to think about what to do at the weekend to make the most of it.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their evening.SPC # 348 2014-£169.07/2015 - £156.89
