Post-B Bank accounts

I was made Bankrupt last week. I had my phonecall with the OR today.
We talked about my bank accounts and what I do to keep one so I can get my child benefit etc and child maintenance payments. He wasnt sure and basically said if they freeze it they freeze it and if they dont they dont. If they do then we try and show them that you need it.
Surely there are rules? How long could this take, I need access to this money for my children, I cant have it sitting in a frozen bank account. My card work in Asda tonight but what if it doesn't next time.
Any advice / experiences?

Who is your bank account with? If Barclays or the co-op you'll be fine, anyone else and you've a 99.9% chance it will be frozen and then closed.
If you aren't with Barclays yet, get yourself down to your local branch and open an account ASAP

Even though you don't hsbc any money, they will close your account  The best thing to do is get down to Barclays and ask for a cash card account or better still 2 accounts. The Barclays cash account is great and you get a debit card and standing order / dd facilities but unfortunately Barclays have a policy to withdraw online banking for undischarged bankrupts
You need to open the account in branch so you might have a bit of a wait for an appointment but they do give you the sort code and account number the same day so you should be able to phone tax credits and get them to swap your payments straight away.

Oh no  have you checked the branch locator for Barclays? There do seem to be some branches in Northern Ireland but obviously I don't know where you are! Maybe it might be worth a day trip as the only other banking options you have come with a hefty monthly fee

Barclays definitely do in Belfast, not sure about elsewhere in NI.0
