Phonecall ... help

Just had a weird phone call.The woman on the other end wanted to speak to me on a personal matter as she was dealing on behalf of another company and could i confirm my personal details with her.I asked who the company was she told me i had to tell her personal details before she would tell me.I then told her i wasen't willing to do so unless she told me who the company was!

Can anyone help? here is the phone number 01772514514. I'm thinking it can only be one of the dreaded DCA.

When I ring the number it just says the other person has hung up. I automatically withhold my number.

You did the right thing if its important they will write don't worry.

Unlikely to be a DCA, most withhold their CLI unless you bar withheld numbers

You typically get that from a phone system using ISDN2 lines, most DCA's (that i have set up anyway) use big whopping predictive diallers with several hundred lines.

You could try going to a payphone and pretending to be a wrong number.
(But probably not worth it)

In America you can do a reverse phone lookup without any problem, but in the UK, it seems to be illegal.

That is so annoying. :mad:

When I have got phone calls like that in the past, I usually just say back to them 'well you called my number and asked to speak to me by name, so you must know who the hell I am' and then hang up. I used to get 'can you confirm you are Ms XXX' well duh... you should know, you asked to speak to me by that name! Ggggrrr. :rolleyes:

Ignore it and don't worry about it.

I had a missed call from this number when I rang it, there was an automated line telling me someone who cloning this number for Fraud!

Hi everyone thank you for all your help.Had another call today but hubby took the call,she was called "SARA" from Preston,gave him a number and ref number and told him they were open to 9pm.

Could anyone tell me who RMA deal with as i have Lloyds,Tesco,littlewoods,Next as my creditors.
