Appilcation with joint account

Hi there, I will be looking at applying for a mortgage soon. The problem is that my wife doesnt have good credit and we have recently opened up a joint bank account. Do you think it would favour me to close this account and go back to having seperate accounts? Im aware that the mortgage companies can start delving in to my wife's credit score as we are attached with credit. Thanks in advance.

You have already financially linked yourselves together through the joint account (even if you did not have previous financial links).

You'd need to close the account and file for disassociation with the three CRAs. That might take a few weeks so if you do decide to do that get on them as soon as possible.

So are you saying the mortgage company would look or ask why I am no longer financially associated with my wife?
