Search any phone number given on google - just in csse it's a scam.
Also, a good bet that a 'winner' email is a scam, if they don't
start with Congratulations / Dear (your name)..
Winners may also get mentioned on the promoter's website / twitter feed, etc.breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??0 -

informed of wins if it helps..
How you are informed of wins..please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.

I can only recall receiving three prizes that were accompanied, in one way or another, by a phone call: Premier Stores rang, told me I'd won a comp, and asked me to confirm my address; Jackson's Fencing rang, after I'd received a prize, and told me it was on the way; and the News of the World posted part of a prize and included a letter asking me to ring to arrange delivery of the rest of the prize.'...luck came to those who left a space for it.' I have received 4 winning phone calls (MTV, ITV, CH4 and Capital Radio) which only account for roughly 1% of my wins.0

:Thank you all, and for the useful link. mostly commons sense but in the excitement on learning of a win (or so you think) that can go out of the window.:T:T0

I've had two phone calls to inform me of wins, both from newspapers and with unknown numbers, and one call to ask me to confirm my address and when I'd be available to receive my prize. In all instances the caller knew everything they needed to know, so I wasn't asked to give out any personal details, just confirm them. If they were to ask for such, I would ask them to email me - I don't think I've ever entered an online competition that didn't ask for an email address as well - partly because my address is spelt differently to how it's pronounced, but also because then you get time to think and check if the call was genuine, and you get their email address, which can be an easy way to tell if they're really who they say they are.0
