Wedding night advice

OK so I have booked a fairly expensive hotel for my fiancee and I for when we get married in July 2016. I used hotels.com and got a cheap deal that was non-refundable. I got a bit suspicious afterwards though because I have looked at the hotel's website and it doesn't allow you to book on a Saturday just for one night in the summer. They also have most Saturday's in July of this year unavailable to book as they have weddings of their own at the hotel.

I have two questions:

1) hotels.com says my booking is guaranteed but also that it is non-refundable. Are either of these things true?

2) Can the hotel just cancel my booking nearer the time? If they do this then where do I stand legally? Why can hotels.com offer rooms which are otherwise unavailable? If you can't book them then surely they shouldn't be offering them?

I have emailed the hotel directly to ask but have had no response yet. Any ideas anyone?

Ring the hotel and speak to them?

I agree with the suggestion above, contact them to clear it up. There's probably an explanation for it.

Have you got an annual travel insurance policy, by any chance (Nationwide has this, I think on a Flaxaccount, if you pay £750 a month into it) - just asking, as that might also be an avenue to check out, and see if you'd get some peace of mind there.
Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

I hope you get everything sorted OP and congratulations on your wedding.
