Why is nobody selling?

Our area have houses on sale for a week, and then sold - for over the asking price. It just depends on the area0

Bristol and Brighton always will do well, they're just about the only places ex Londoners can handle moving too. Everywhere else feels like it's going back in time.
Out here beyond Guildford, the mid market is going crazy. One of our neighbours had their house on the market for 1.4M for almost two years before selling before the election.
A similar one on the same road on a much smaller plot went sale agreed within a week for full asking at a similar price.
Market is rising rapidly here. Lots of London folks moving out, from what I can see0 -

How's Sheffield itself doing ?Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -
Going to contradict my original observation that there were no middle range houses available. At the moment all the FTB terraced houses have sold, as have the top of the range detached houses. Now there is a small glut of middle ranged houses like mine. Can't explain it, unless it is a local phenomenon.Been away for a while.0

Starting to see a slight increase in the numbers properties coming to market this last week or so... seems to be a few landlords getting out of the game as the majority of them are/were BTL's.0

Whilst I'd agree that there are very low numbers of sellers, in my area at least that seems to be offset by correspondingly low numbers of buyers, net result - stalemate.0

Maybe the GFC showed people it really wasn't that important to move every few years.
Who can be bothered and churn a load of money into the bargain at the same time?0 -

My current property was built in 1933 and I'm only the 4th owner.
My mothers house was build in 1961 and she's only the 2nd owner.
Not everyone feels a need to churn property at great expense.0
