Bankruptcy query

Hi there, i am new to the forum and this is my first post. I am about to file for bankruptcy (my court appt is this week). I have a query on 2 things that i hope someone may be able to help me with.

Firstly, i bought a laptop a year ago on hp from Brighthouse, the initial credit amount was £1020 and i have paid just over £650 so far. My question is, when i am granted bankruptcy, will i have to return the laptop and lose the amount that i have paid.

Secondly, i informed my employer about my bankruptcy and since then she is being quite nasty about it and making some derogatory comments in the office. She said that i would be a prime suspect if any money went missing from the till!!!!!!

Any help/advice on either of these questions would be gratefuly received.

As the laptop does not belong to you then the OR cannot seize it as an asset. However, as it doesn't really fall into the category of essential household items, then an allowance against expenditure to offset the payment won't be made either. Effectively, you can return the laptop and any money owing is covered by the BR, or someone else can make the payment on your behalf. You could possibly keep making the payments, but you would have to find the money from elsewhere in your budget.

Your employer sounds very sympathetic and charming, as well as slightly deluded. By facing up to your debt problems you are being very responsible, and, paradoxically, are much less likely to put your hand in the till as you won't have any debt that might otherwise tempt you to do so. Is there anyone higher you can make a complaint to? Sounds like a bit of a bully to me.
