Transferring equity from 2 to 1. How easy is it to do with a solicitor?

Have today paid off my mortgage!! Now I want to transfer equity from 2 names into one name (mine) with full agreement of other party. Solicitors fees are around £300 to £500 for what seems to be just completion of three forms. Has anyone any experience of doing this themselves?
