  • Hiya,

    It's worth checking out www.jobsite.co.uk

Within a day or two of setting up and uploaing my CV i had agencies giving me details of good administration and secretarial work.

I got sent details of a really good job on July 10th, been for two interviews for it and got offered the job Monday and i start 3rd sept. I didnt even have to look for anything myself.

Good luck with the job hunt.

    Great post OP,

I too am looking for a job and I am fed up of the number of jobs advertised by agencies and you ring / e-mail to find out more details and they won't give them out and just say "send us your CV and you can find out details at a later date"

!!!!!!, I only want to know a) where the job is based b) the salary c) the company...

I have actually just e-mailed the dti about one company because i'm sure they just make up job adverts to get loads of CV's to keep on file... when I pressed for the info and said "unfortunately I won't be able to apply without knowing where the job is based" I got the reply "don't bother applying anyway, my clients would never be interested in someone like you"

I hate that too, i don't want a job through an agency - i have done it before was there for 2 years then one day they just rang up and said they didn't want me back!!! (i found out the agency was pressuring them to take me on - but they just got rid of me and got another person through an agency so they didn't have to pay the fee!)

I don't wanna spend all day having to go down and register somewhere. For them then to not even apply for the job you were interested in!

I would like to know if there are any job sites that only have jobs through the company direct and not an agency!

Not that i'm aware of and i've been in recruitment for 5 years. My best guess as far as companies advertising directly would be their own websites but that means a lot of searching.

That's just really unhelpful on their part. They shouldn't have a problem giving you the general area and salary along with a basic description of the role.
Unfortunately the industry is so competative that giving company names over the phone is a definate no no. Some agencies will ring other agencies trying to get the name and pinch the jobs.

I wouldn't give out a full description and get into all the in's and outs before seeing someones CV as we need to know first and foremost are you suitable for the role? If you'r not what the client has asked for then it's a waste of your time and ours spending half an hour on the phone discussing it. It sounds harsh but if we did that, we'd never get anything done.

And that was just downright rude of them. Please don't think all agencies are like this because I certainly don't operate like that.
