  • What does it say on the initial paperwork that you were issued by the broker? This would have stated whether they were 'Whole of Market' or they worked from a panel of lenders, or indeed were tied to one lender.

    It would also mention fees.

    OP, what is your issue, you bought a flat on a repayment mortgage, probably residential, let it out immediately and been living abroad for nearly a decade.

    You should sell it and pat yourself on the back if you have made some good profit.
