Managed to get a couple more rough quote for less than £6k, the only problem I am facing is that I want to pay part of it by credit card, and the number of companies I've asked who dont accept credit card payments is quite amazing and shocking, I understand there are charges for running these but my goodness I thought in this day and age it was as easy as pie taking card payments.
I've still got a couple of options in the pipeline.
Ask them "Why Not ?" and if it's just the CC charges try offering them £5 extra if they'll accept a £100 deposit by CC.
Explain that CC company will give you a guarantee at no extra cost to them if you've made part payment by CC and that without such a guarantee you'll have to look for an alternative supplier.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

I find it strange why they dont. I can understand if they are being charged 3% of a transaction.
I have got a lead on another supplier that gave me a good rough quote but before asking them to travel to give me a full quote etc I thought it best to explain the ground rules, ie below a certain price and accepting credit card for part payment.
I expect to find out later on this evening or tomorrow morning. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
Hopefully this will be the last question.
I finally found out the details of the panels for my lowest quote, just looking for opinions before I bite the bullet.
I've got quotes now for
Winaico WST-250P6 (Polycristalline) £5775
Perlight 250w (Monocrystalline) £6300
LG Neon Mono X 250w (mono) £6480
Benq (327w) £7330
Guess I'm asking whether it is best to go with the cheap option or to spend a little bit more for possibly the better quality, I understand the Winaico and Perlight are black cells on black, where as the LG and Benq are black cells on white background.
Many thanks again. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

Are you happy to wait an extra year for payback by taking the more expensive option, that depends how risk averse you are?
My choice? the Perlights, solely because they are more aesthetically pleasing than the others and I'd pay the extra for that....that's just my opinion.

They're nearly all of Chinese origin so I shouldn't worry too much and after a quick read up it seems perlight have been around for 33 years, no mean feat !

I had also read that the polycristalline panels are less efficient also, over the mono, but reasons for that is that there is less manufacturing in the poly.
Does this seem about right too? Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

A 'more efficient' panel will get the same generation as a 'less efficient' one of the same rated output. The efficiency gain will result in the higher one getting that output from a smaller area - which may of course in some circumstances mean that you can fit more of them onto the same roof and hence get a higher total output. But if you have room on your roof for 16 large panels and are satisfied with a 4kWp system, switching to 16 smaller ones will give you no benefit.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

I'd like to go with the Perlights as per your suggestion and personal choice, gut tells me for the wee bit extra protection and peace of mind to go for the LG Mono, however, the wife who holds the purse strings will probably tell me to go for the cheaper one, the Winaico one's are used on alot of commercial properties, and the company who has quoted for those does install at larger commission's(housing associations/commonwealth games village in Glasgow)
My mind is made up for Perlights but I feel Winaico will win through cost in the end. Thanks to all the competition posters.0
