Natwest Application - Am I being given the correct information?

Apologies to post yet another thread, but I am really looking for a simple, straight answer on a couple of things..

Using a mortgage broker my husband and I submitted out full application last Wednesday (8th April). I received an email from our broker telling us that Natwest have said yes, and it would be submitted to an underwriter within the next couple of days.

Friday we supplied further details on my husbands current account (he is self employed so previously had only supplied business account details).

I have not heard anything further since.

I know someone mentioned in a previous that until the underwriters have finished it isn't approved - is this still the case or is the broker feeding us with incorrect information?

I have checked my Equifax report and Natwest performed a subsequent search on 8th April (day application was submitted).

My question is... what happens next? Is it just a waiting game My details are being looked into or is it more possible there is a back-log??

I guess I am just a little confused as to where we are in the application process and whether I just need to sit and wait patiently for someone to contact me, or whether I should be contacting someone?

I have tried emailing my broker to confirm these details, but I have not yet received a reply so hoping you guys can just clear things up for me so I can stop feeling so lost in this (what I feel) daunting process.

    Hi,

I know most brokers will say not to...but I am constantly in touch with the Natwest team directly- they are SOOO helpful and friendly - their number is +44 121 629 0323.

They can tell you in-depth, what stage you are at - if there are any mistakes or if there is any extra info that's needed so you can get it read in advance.

I would highly reccomend speaking to them directly, especially of your broker is on the quiet side (like mine was)

Many thanks Georgie! If I haven't had a reply from anyone by this afternoon, I will give them a call. Thank you.

Do you need a ref: number as I haven't been given one?

    Thanks Kingstreet :)

I rang up without a ref number, they were fine and really helpful and gave me the ref number during the call. Felt terribly guilty but it was ruining our Easter weekend not knowing and our broker was away!

If broker clients are phoning lenders for updates, that's the fault of the broker, not the client.

This job is all about managing expectations. If I tell you I'll update you every two days, I exceed expectations if I do it daily.

If I don't do it, you'll feel let down.

    Always under-promise and over-deliver.

Unless you get a very, very difficult case where something strange makes it stick to the sides of the pipeline, it's relatively easy to go from application to offer with the minimum of fuss and stress, explaining each stage and how long it will take in a series of pre-set emails.
