Unfortunately I am back

I was here a while ago (last autumn) and got some great advice.
My story is that I owe the HMRC quite a large sum of money. I worked out a payment plan which was going okay (tough but okay). In November my contract was stopped quite abruptly and was unable to pay. in January I started paying again (including a tax rebate) but not at the level I needed to. I have been trying to contact the Redruth office as they speak to you like human beings. I then got a fine which the Redruth people said they would quash as I was on a plan, however three things have happened since.
1) Another office has got back in touch and are being 'very HMRC'. I have a call with them tomorrow
2) I received a letter today saying they were likely to handover the fine and the tax debt to a debt collector and they may use bailiffs
3) The number I was using for the Redruth office no longer works.
Redruth was clear they would bankrupt me if I missed anymore payments, but I can't get in touch with them to see if what I am currently paying is acceptable.
My worry is the guidance on this page https://www.gov.uk/your-rights-bailiffs/what-you-can-do-when-a-bailiff-visits states that bailiffs can force entry into your home for unpaid tax. I understood that they wouldn't do that. Does anyone know if they can or will?
Again back to no sleeping, I can't concentrate at work etc etc.
I am now wondering if I should go ahead and move to bankruptcy myself, although I would lose my current contract if I did that as I need a ltd company, and they won't work with bankrupts.
Any random thought gratefully received, I am not thinking straight and don't even know the right questions to ask.

Thank you Fermi
Whom ever you seem to ask within Government you get a different answer. This is closer to what I have heard.
Thanks0 -
More info direct from HMRC here.

I spoke to them last summer, unfortunately they said they had an upper limit on the level of salary - it is designed for those on low incomes (under £20K I think).
I am going to try and talk to the revenue today and see what they say. I hope not, but my gut tells me this is the end of the line, the amount I can pay will probably not be enough (more than three years to pay off).0
