mortgage application and very old late payment on credit file

In advance of undertaking a remortgage I've obtained my credit file from Experian / Equifax etc

To my surprise I've noticed a very old late payment flag relating to a single month of June 2009 for Virgin Media. Total surprise to me as that account (now closed in 2011) was always taken monthly via direct debit etc with no problems over the 10 years I was with them.

Is this likely to cause me a problem with a Mortgage Application.

Interestingly Experian tell me that it will disappear in about a month as it will be six years old.

Advice appreciated

  • 1 month missed payment 5 years ago will have no affect at all. I had a missed payment 18 months ago and flew through a mortgage application

You could also try contacting Virgin Media to contest it and potentially get it removed from your file if you're concerned.
  • Dont dispute it as it will drop off your file in 1 month anyway.

Once it falls off your credit file it will have no effect whatsoever.

One late payment almost 6 years ago probs wouldn't effect you anyway
