You can do the trifles before I always make my Christmas day trifle on Christmas eve not sure if you are a trifle expert but you need to use less water in the jelly and you can get away with instant custard made with less water than it says... Just whip the cream at the last minute and dollop it on... You can do things like sausage rolls the day before sandwiches are a bit trickier as they curl up or go soggy, M and S platters are great.0

Thank you, I plan to do them the night before then just put the cream on in the morning. Ive made arrangements to borrow a neighbours spare fridge and Im also going to look for one on the local buy/sell facebook page and put them in my sisters garage so Ive got plenty of fridge space now hopefully!0 -
Fridge space is definitely a good thing when catering and if you have room to park them in the garage it will really help. Can you not get your sister(s) or friends to help put the food out to your specifications when you all get back from the wedding? I did the catering for my own wedding back in the 80's we got hitched in the morning and then just had a do in the evening so spent the day doing chicken legs etc and taking it all to the venue.0

I think that's pretty much the way it will be now Nearlyrich. Im hoping to do most of the work the day/night before and perhaps just do the last bits on the morning of the wedding in hopefully about 2 hours.
Biggest worry is the weather as I want to be able to decorate the garden the day/night before so praying it dosent rain.0 -
Well my DD gets married in July so I will join you in wishing for sunny days if only so my hat keeps dry x0

if i were you i would ask for volunteers to help - it is a lot of work!! for my wedding i was planning to make cakes to go with tea and coffee the church hall before we go on to the reception - as members of the church we are getting married in we are expecting lots more people at the service than the reception and want to spend a bit of time until we head down the road to the local hotel function room. i got overwhelmed and behind on my cake baking. thankfully people have rallied round and i now have an army of 17 volunteers offering to bake 1 or 2 cakes for the occasion!! if you have anyone that is willing and able to help accept it!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
