TRIP REPORT: Bangkok, Krabi, Singapore and Dubai

Options
Emirates Business Class – Swooooooon, EK know how to look after their customers, they have a solid product, excellent customer service and it does what it says on the Tin! Simple.

Country - Thailand - City: Bangkok
We fell in love with everything about Bangkok, the people, the culture, the food, the vfm (Thailand as a whole), one of those destinations we will go back to. We did a tuk tuk night tour, my 14 year old loved this as it was very informative/educational.

Hotel: Shangri La
We opted for the Krungthep Wing, love love love, I will be doing that again and again. The service, the food, the staff, the rooms, the wing, the complimentary add ons. We used the complimentary limo service, to the airport, professional, luxurious car. The quality of the food was very good, I enjoyed my breakfast in the beautifully appointed restaurant overlooking the ?? River. I got an excellent rate for Shangri La, there was a 3 for 2 night promotion when I booked it!

This hotel is also in the perfect location for the BTS and the River Boat, it really does tick all my boxes. I’m tempted to try out the Fullerton across the river, but I’m scared I might be disappointed?!?!?!

We flew Bangkok Airways to Krabi, simples, does the job, although the pilot probably needs more training on how to make a smooth landing! I was pleasantly surprised that the flight was scheduled to take 1hr35 but took an hour!

Transfers from Krabi to the Pimalai was OK once we got going. We spent 45 min at the airport waiting for other passengers. But once on the road to the jetty it was ok. It took us 50 min to get to the Jetty, where we were quickly escorted to the speed boat, the journey to the hotel took 45min but the journey was pleasant enough and the view when seeing Pimalai for the first time…BREATHTAKING!

The people of Thailand are so kind, so polite, so friendly and professional it made tipping a joy! They really knew how to look after us.

Country - Thailand - Krabi Province - Koh Lanta
Hotel: Pimalai
One of those hidden gems of a hotel. We opted for a 2 bedroom Beach Front Pool villa. It was EXPENSIVE, would I pay £7K again for 7 nights, possibly! I loved that it was quiet, we had our own pool in villa (obviously) it was cleaned everyday, with a turn down service, the usual stuff.

We bought all of our drinks from the 711. We were disappointed with the food in Krabi. We tried various places and everything was just meh!

The best meals were had at the Mungrove Swamps where we ate crabs and lobster, all FRESH OMG, that was heaven.

We ended up not doing much in Krabi, the heat was just too much for us. We did hire mopeds over 4 days and rode around the island exploring. We did book a day trip to Phi Phi but my little one didn’t sleep well and was ill and I had a bit of a cold so ended up cancelling it. We will go back and visit PhiPhi etc.

I tried out the spa at Pimalai, and it was beautiful and the treatments were perfect!

Pimalai is one of those properties that you go to to get away from it all. Not once did we switch on the TV, the wifi was good! Transfers to and from Pimalai provided by the hotel which was great, it was quicker going back to the airport.

Next stop was Singapore on Tiger Air, flight was scheduled to last 1hr50 min but we arrived 20 minutes early into Singapore.

Country - Malaysia - City: Singapore
You guys were right, 2 nights were way way too short! Lessons learnt from this trip stay a minimum of 4 nights at each destination as the first day/night is spent recovering from travelling, even if the flights were only short, we seemed to always be exhausted after flying???!!?!?!

Hotel: Marina Bay Sands

WOW we loved it! VIP check in, complimentary cocktails, afternoon tea, this is the other city we cannot wait to return. We did an Moonlight tour, which was great fun but we could see all the stops in this tour from our FABULOUS hotel room, next time we need to go further afield. Singapore is very expensive, definitely not for shopping, which is a shock when you’ve just come from Thailand which is great value for money for everything! We were way too tired to do anymore exploring.

Emirates flight to Dubai, on time, painless.

Country - UAE - City: Dubai
Hotel: Atlantis the Palm

Dubai…..well you have all seen my posts. I will be returning to Dubai in January on my way back from SA for 3 nights. My sister and I are coordinating it so that we just hit the big January sales. I will NOT be staying at Atalantis, next time I will opt for a city hotel.

Off to the airport at 13h30 local time, flying into BHX on Emirates. We departed from MAN, the transfers were painless, professional and easy as I didn’t have to drive. We will be flying EK for our Christmas flights to and from SA.

All in all we loved this holiday spent way too much money, but hey ho I was never doing this on the cheap in the first place!

Fingers crossed this last flight doesn't throw up any gremlins!
