Green deal for solar panels?

Hi everyone- just after advice/pointers/warnings whatever you can give me. Had a guy come out the other day who'd been fitting PV panels in our street. He said its NOT a rent a roof scheme, but works a as a loan, though I pay nothing as it comes from the feed in & a charge made at the meter. Link to their site & bumf is here:

I understand that they will benefit from FIT but overall my bills should reduce for electricity use, especially if I can set timers to things that can use the solar power during the day.

Has anyone had experience of getting panels this way?
Thanks in advance
Mortgage Balance May 25- £9975. Planning to be paid off by Dec 25🎄

    Hi

A number of members have posted figures on similar Green Deal packages and most we've seen simply do nothing but line the pockets of the pv/GD installers ..... Normal practice seems to be to set the price at a level where the repayments almost exactly match the estimated income from the FiTs plus the value (usually overestimated) self-consumption energy savings ...

Go ahead and get a price from them (as long as there's no initial survey or assessment charge), but definitely don't sign-up for anything or make any form of payment whilst they are with you and do let us know what they quote - someone will be able to confirm whether it's a good deal or not (but it's normally not in these cases!) and maybe give a view on what's been offered. Funding from savings, or even low cost finance, usually works out to be a much better prospect ...

They've done an initial assessment (without fees) and the door to door guy said we'd save possibly £10 a month on the electric. Whereas the guy who did the assessment said if we pay £80 a month for electric ( it's about £70 actually) we'd save AT LEAST £60 a month!! That's what's made me dubious tbh. Mortgage company said they only approve installation from suppliers on their list so I'll just say they aren't on the list unless they want to write to the provider & find out. As the saying goes if it's too good to be true and all that.... Thanks for your response though :)

    Hi

The electricity savings will depend on how you use your own generation, but most on here would tend to agree with the £10/month you mention as being realistic ... as expected, the savings have been vastly overestimated in order to justify their offer .....

.... did they provide specification, price and details of the GD monthly payment ??
