Mortgage application - underwriting steps Natwest

Hi guys,
My husband and I according to our broker have been accepted a mortgage by Natwest, but our details are currently being looked at by their underwriters.
This was process started Wednesday and Thursday we were asked to provide details on my husbands current account (as so far we had only given information in his business account).
We have nothing to hide and have provided all the details correctly on our application form and to our mortgage broker, but I can't help but be worried they will say no. I did explain my credit file wasn't the best (although the I have been improving it over a long period of time which is clear to see. Plus although I am on the electoral roll it doesn't show on my credit file which I have provided Natwest a letter for).
Can anyone advise what it is they check during this process and how long roughly it should take? In addition, will be received written confirmation once they are happy everything is correct?
Many thanks in advance.

You haven't been accepted for a mortgage if your application has passed through underwriting. As it's the underwriters who have the authority to decline the application or make you an offer.0 -
That was my understanding. I was confused when I had a reply in a only a few hours.
Thanks for clarifying.
Are you able to advise what they look at and how long roughly they do their investigations? I am really not enjoying this part of the process haha.0 -
