My first thought as something like panacotta. I quite like milky things after curry, especially if it's a spicy one!

I had one of those ice cream makers - the bowl was kept permanently in the freezer and housed those small bags of leftovers I seem to collect.
I used it to make sorbets for my dairy allergic son, at least three times a week.
a lovely refreshing sorbet is Watermelon. and you can make 'Champagne Sorbet' with Prosecco - sounds posh and you cant tell it isn't Moet E Chandon!

Do you have room in your fridge for the dessert? A lovely refreshing pud is kheer which is basically cold rice pudding (no skin!) flavoured with rose water & cardamon. Made a day or two in advance & served cold, it's lovely served after a curry

If you've got a bit of room in your freezer you could make kulfi - you don't need to churn it :)

Thanks for all these helpful suggestions. In the end my friends had a family problem and couldn't come - but I shall certainly use these ideas in future.
