    Not high!

Electric is in line with national average of 3,300kWh a year.

Gas average is 20,500kWh a year. However the majority of that is used in winter for heating.

your 1947kWh will be mainly for Hot Water and cooking?

You will need to look at a years consumption to get the full picture and it will then depend on a lot of other factors, not least size of property and number of people.
  • There is me and 3 kids in a 4 bed semi detatched house. Gas is for heating and hot water also the stove the cooker is electric.

For comparison, our usage over the last 77 days is:
    Gas 796 kWh
    Electricity 551 kWh
We are 2+1 in a three-bedroom semi, using gas for heating, hot water and stove.

In comparison, your gas seems a bit high for this time of year but we may not be using as much hot water as you (fewer kids). As for electricity, you could probably shave off a bit by looking at appliances that are using electricity even when they are "off" -- mobile chargers, computers, game consoles, any appliance or light with an external power supply, your TV... If your fridge and/or freezer is old that could add a couple of tenners to your bill each year.

The forum is full of useful tips from people both on "reasonable" consumption figures and what you can do to save -- have a browse. We've taken 35% (£125) off our electricity bill in the last year by looking at the things I mentioned above.

    Good luck!
