Now this is going to sound like a really really stupid question.

This is fascinating, and thank you to the OP for asking the question! My mother didn't do cleaning - or only if there were visitors. I can truthfully say that I don't ever remember her cleaning the kitchen floor! :rotfl: she brought up five healthy children.
I've got a ceramic tiled kitchen floor, it's a dining room as well so a large area and has rugs, dining table and a small sofa to move. I have just bought a steam mop, and I love it - takes no time to dry and the floor looks really clean. I don't disagree with the comments above about hot water and elbow grease, but I can't kneel on the floor so it's got to be something with a long handle. This is ten times better than the mop-and-bucket as far as I'm concerned! I'll be honest and say I don't clean under the table/sofa every time because there's no foot traffic there, I concentrate on the area between the back door and the hallway and around the cooker, sink etc.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Clean it with a cloth though.
Leaving it wet - if anyone stands on it, they will leave dirt!0 -
I cleaned my kitchen floor this morning, I've been putting it off for ages because I hate doing it so much but this thread inspired me!
As much as I hate doing it, it is quite satisfying cleaning all that dust, mud, and ground in cat food off the tiles.0 -

Once a week my very large kitchen floor gets a good clean with very hot water - don't forget the rubber gloves - Stardrops, a splash of bleach and some scrim for washing. I use a garden kneeler rather than a cushion as it's wipe-clean and dries easily. I use a bucket of plain hot water for rinsing afterwards, and the bathroom gets the same treatment. I also mop the kitchen floor every evening with a similar solution as I have a dog and cat.0
