Halifax Mortgage Application : How long does it take?

Hi everyone,

My partner and I have just started the process of applying for a residential mortgage with Halifax. We have literally just had the initial phone call and they have booked us in for the next phone call with the Mortgage Adviser (due to take place tomorrow).

Does anyone have any feedback on how long it takes from start to final mortgage confirmation? Hopefully someone has been through the process recently and would know the time frame.

My partner is classified as Self Employed so I know it may take a little bit longer for us. We are getting lots of pressure from our Chain to complete asap so just wondering how long it will take with Halifax.

Many thanks!

How is it you are already getting pressure from the chain when you have only just booked to see an adviser?

We applied on 5 March and got our offer on 17 March. We've had several issues since then and 2 further offers, our latest one still isn't correct - so our adviser is calling tomorrow. The first process was very quick though!

ETA - I mean actual offer and not just decision in principle too, just to clarify.

I am looking for an answer too.

My buyer applied mortgage to Halifax via a broker. Valuation survey was done a month back. Still they have not received offer. They had AIP before application.

Buyer is citing Easter holiday as an excuse. I am getting worried in the meantime :(
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Our typical Halifax case is submitted, docs uploaded and valuation instructed within a few minutes.

The time it takes to get the valuation done and back determines how long it takes to get the offer out.

Our latest case is going to be a longer one.

App submitted 2/4. Docs uploaded 2/4. Valuation instructed 10/4. Business assessor decision 13/4. Valuation appointment 20/4. Realistic earliest offer date 21/4. This is a case which was declined at DIP until we reduced the LTV to 65%. A default was discovered we didn't know about and we had to provide an explanation.

Our Halifax cases are normally app to offer in a week to ten days.

My Halifax application via a broker was issued DIP and valuation paid for and instructed within a few days. Valuation conducted a week later, then took a few days to get updated on Halifax system and approved.

Thought all was ok but now some kind of issue relating to previous credit so referred to underwriter. Don't know what it is as all credit agencies are showing excellent credit rating with no defaults.

Very concerning, now just waiting to see what the underwriters say.

Only took us a few days, maybe a week till the valuer could take a look at it. Didn't bother with a broker just went straight into branch. I had imagined it would be a lot more of a palaver than it was.
