Certain toothpaste and skin shedding in mouth?

Happens to me if I use a whitening toothpaste (tried several different brands).
I stick with Lild herbal toothpaste now, no problems with that and it tastes lovely :-)0 -
Oral B does the same to me too. It's a shame, because I liked the Pro-expert toothpaste for how clean my teeth felt, but the slimy skin shredding was just vile.0

I get this now and then, no blisters. Cannot remember what I was using at the time, never use whitening toothpaste. I am using Oral B Total Protection with no problem for past year.0

My dentist gave me a free sample of the (then) new Oral-B toothpaste and I found that it did make my teeth feel really clean but I didn't like the overwhelming taste which was very similar to bicarbonate of soda/baking soda, kind of salty and gritty?
I'm not sure if it is an ingredient in the toothpastes that OP mentioned, but I can remember once buying a toothpaste which actually stated that baking soda was one of the ingredients and I didn't like that either.
If so, then I'm not surprised that it causes skin shedding, it's quite a strong alkaline substance, which probably would cause a reaction in some people. I didn't get sore cheeks but I did have a horrible taste in my mouth for most of the morning. I've found a lot of the "deep cleaning" or "whitening" type toothpastes taste like this, it's horrible!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
I've had this problem too (I thought it was just me ...) and thinking about it, it's always happened when I use either Oral B and Arm and Hammer toothpastes. It's really unpleasant and it makes my mouth so sore when it happens, it's almost a relief to know I'm not alone!0

Happens to me with sensodyne. Glad it's not just me!0

I know this is quite an old thread, but I also experience this shredding of skin in my mouth after using Oral B. I contacted them today, found out that this has happened to others, but when I asked what the reason was, they claimed that it would be against Data Protection Law for them to tell me why others had had the problem???0

I get the same skin shedding problem when I use Oral B too. It's a shame because I loved the taste and how clean the Proclean toothpaste got my teeth, but the skin shedding was just awful.
Ick!0 -
It could be anyone of the ingredients from thymol ,cinnamon etc. I suspect it is a flavouring rather than sls or benzoates which can cause problems but are in many other toothpastes. Many people have this with oral b toothpaste and no others.0

Hi thought I was going a bit mad. I've used the oral b 3D White. My gums have gone really sore that is making me miserable, different sore patches around my mouth. Where there is ulcers now. The inside of my lip has swollen. I've used it for two weeks "it can't be the toothpaste" but it is! didn't realise how old this was0
