Vanquis- duplicate balance transfer & won't return money!

in Credit cards
I recently took out a Tesco credit card with free balance transfer facility in an attempt to improve my finances by transferring the £3k balance of my Vanquis card which never seemed to get any smaller.
In an error made by Tesco, a duplicate balance transfer was carried out, resulting in my Tesco card now being in excess of the limit but, more importantly, my Vanquis card has been blocked as it is against the terms and conditions to be in credit with them (I can't even access my online account) and many many attempts to have the funds returned appears to have fallen on deaf ears. They've denied receiving 2 emails sent from Tesco and haven't acknowledged my emails. When I call, I'm either told I have to speak to the security dept who have finished for the day or am passed a message through a call advisor telling me that it's "not their problem".
I'm at a loss as to what to do. They effectively have £3k of money, earning interest on it and are refusing to even acknowledge my issues. In an attempt to better my situation, it has only been made a lot worse.
Can anyone help with any suggestions on what I might do next?
Thanks for your help!!

Register a formal complaint with Tesco (and Vanquis too), but it's down to Tesco to sort on your behalf.
When I was in a similar '2 institution' situation a few years ago (although not with credit cards), I also rang the FOS who wrote a letter to each organisation to 'bang their heads together'! It was sorted with a few days.0 -
it should be all down to tesco to fix this, presumably if you bought a fridge and as double charged for it, the credit card company would refind you immediately and get the merchant to short it out. Likewise, tesco have messed up, youre protected by various consumer credit laws which should put the responsibility squarely on tesco to fix tbis cockup.
threaten to report them to the fsa/0 -
I applied to Tesco 12 months 0% BT no fee card and I was in the same situation this week, because i requested BT when I was making the application and the amount was deducted from my overall limit, so i thought the BT will finish after I activate my Tesco card, as per their T&C.
But 1 week later, my credit limit gone again to the initial 500 pounds, so i thought the BT was cancelled and I requested another one (their system allow me to do that) just to see 2 BT transfers to my Aqua card and over 400+ pounds over my Tesco credit limit.
Fortunately I need to cover around 1k pounds to my Aqua card, so I just covered the 400+ pounds with my Barclaycard BT.
But there is definitely some flaws in Tesco online banking system, if you have pending BT you should be able to see them or at least amount deducted from the credit limit and not be able to make BT over your credit limit.0 -

ahh, i see, if the user requests BT twice than that's a different issue. Tesco are not responsible for the duplicate BT.0
